Concordia-St. Paul Unloads Five Goals, Keeps SMSU Winless

ST. PAUL, Minn.
- Concordia University, St. Paul's Emily Weimelt scored two goals in the first 10 minutes to lead her Golden Bears to a 5-1 victory over Southwest Minnesota State Sunday afternoon in St. Paul, Minn.

CU improves to 5-4-2 (2-1-1 NSIC), while SMSU drops to 0-7-0 (0-4-0 NSIC).

Weimelt scored back to back goals, with the first coming in the fourth minute and the second coming just five minutes later.  CU's Arielle Stimson also scored two goals in the Golden Bear win.  Nacole Kiss accounted for the fifth and final CU goal.

Tatum Borstad netted her first goal of the season just before half when the junior used a corner kick from Liz Judkins to make the score 3-1.

CU tallied 23 shots on the afternoon; SMSU had 11.  Borstad led SMSU with four shots.

Goalkeeper Kendra Olchefske recorded 11 saves for SMSU.

The Mustangs will open a seven-game homestand on Friday when they host Mary at 6 p.m.  The contest will be SMSU's regular season home opener.
