DENVER, Colo. - A potent West Florida offensive attack led the No. 15 Argos to a 3-0 (27-25, 25-18, 25-21) sweep over No. 8 Southwest Minnesota State Friday morning at the Colorado Premier Challenge on the campus of Regis in Boulder, Colo.
UWF improves to 3-3, while SMSU drops its first match of the season and now sits at 4-1.
The Argos hit a solid .305 as a team and were led by senior outside hitter Kimberly Clark, who finished with a match-high 13 kills.
A normally explosive SMSU offense sat idle throughout, hitting an uncharacteristic .196 on the morning.
Mary Groth led the Mustangs with nine kills--the closest SMSU spiker to come to double figures in the category.
Devin Diedrich and
Brooke Burmeister each killed eight balls.
Sara Graf and
Cara Carson split the setting duties; Graf finished with 20 assists, while Carson had 17.

Kenzie Niesche was the lone Mustang in double figures in the dig column as she checked in with 11.
The opening set featured 16 different tie scores, the last of which came at 25-25 before UWF aced its final serve to take the set 27-25.
SMSU led just once in the ensuing set, taking an early 2-1 advantage before being forced to play catch-up. The Argos took as much as an eight-point lead and rode it to the 25-18 set victory.
Facing a 2-0 deficit, SMSU battled UWF neck and neck until the Argos ended on a 5-2 run and the clinched subsequent match sweep.
The Mustangs committed eight service errors in the loss and recorded just two blocks--the latter a season low.
SMSU will continue play today against host Regis at 7:30 p.m. local time (8:30 CST).
