SIOUX FALLS, S.D.- The Southwest Minnesota State soccer team (1-7-2, 0-5-2 NSIC) was defeated by Augustana (4-6-2, 3-3-1 NSIC) this afternoon in a 3-1 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match-up.

Courtney McCarthy scored the first goal of the game on an assist from Kelly Fitzgerald after eleven minutes, but Augustana answered with two goals in the first half and a final goal in the second half to seal the victory for the Vikings.

The Mustangs took 13 shots, 10 on goal, while Augie had 21 shots with 13 shots on goal.

Kendra Olechefske suffered the loss and finished with a game-high 10 saves.

SMSU will return home for more NSIC action when they take on MSU Moorhead Saturday at 1 p.m., and Minnesota, Crookston on Sunday at 1 p.m.
