GAME NOTES

Setting the Scene:
Southwest Minnesota State University (3-3, 2-3 NSIC) begins a two-game road trip this Saturday, Oct. 16, taking on St. Cloud State University (5-1, 5-0 NSIC), at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud, Minn., with kickoff set for 1 p.m.  SCSU, which received votes in this week's AFCA Top 25 poll, is one of the three teams tied atop the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference standings and has won five straight games.  SMSU snapped a three-game losing streak last Saturday with a 49-14 home victory over MSU Moorhead, while SCSU earned a 31-17 road win over Minnesota State, Mankato.  SMSU and SCSU renew a rivarly that has been dormat for over 25 years.  The former Northern Intercollegiate Conference (NIC) foes will be playing for the first time since Sept. 8, 1984 and will be meeting for the first time in a conference game since Oct. 25, 1980.
