MATCH NOTES
MARSHALL, Minn. - The No. 4 Southwest Minnesota State volleyball team will travel north this weekend to take on No. 2 Minnesota Duluth and Bemidji State in NSIC matches. The Mustangs will play UMD on Friday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. in Duluth, Minn. SMSU will then travel to Bemidji State to take on the Beavers on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 4 p.m.
Setting the scene: The Mustangs head into the NSIC tilts owners of a 10-1 record. Southwest Minnesota State is off to its best start in school history. The Mustangs were 7-0 until they dropped the championship game of the Colorado Premier Challenge against Wayne State, who was also unbeaten. The last team to start a season undefeated was the 2004 team (6-0). Before them, the best start in school history belonged to the 1978 team who started 5-0. The 2008 Mustangs started their season 13-1, and finished the season 28-6, 16-4 NSIC.
