SMSU GAME NOTES

Setting the Scene: Southwest Minnesota State University (2-2, 1-2 NSIC) will continue Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference South Division play on Saturday, Oct. 2, hosting Wayne State College (3-1, 2-1 NSIC) in Marshall for the annual Homecoming/Ag Bowl game. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. at Mattke Field at the Regional Event Center. SMSU will be looking to snap a two-game losing streak after starting the season 2-0.
The Mustangs are coming off a 53-21 road loss to No. 24 Augustana in Sioux Falls, S.D., on Saturday. Wayne State, which received votes in this week's AFCA top 25 poll, rebounded from its first loss of the season two weeks to down Northern State at home 44-20 on Saturday. SMSU will also be looking to snap another streak on Saturday. The Mustangs have lost five straight overall to Wayne State with SMSU's last victory coming in Wayne, Neb., on Oct. 16, 2004. SMSU's last win in Marshall was on Oct. 27, 2001.
