MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State, Mankato continued its dominance over Southwest Minnesota State on Thursday earning a 9-0 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference victory in Mankato.
MSU is now 11-0 all-time versus SMSU and has recorded four consecutive shutouts in the series.
The Mavericks (4-4-1, 3-1-1 NSIC) scored the game's first goal in the fifth minute and then added three goals within a 12-minute span late in the first half to build a 4-0 halftime lead.
MSU finished the game with 21 shots on goal, while SMSU (1-5-1, 0-2-1 NSIC) was limited to just two shots on goal.
Autumn Hayes and
Amber Williamson each recorded a shot on goal for SMSU.
Kendra Olchefske suffered the loss in goal recording 12 saves.
SMSU will step out of conference play on Saturday afternoon with match-up at Minot State (N.D.). SMSU defeated Minot State 2-1 in overtime on Sept. 15 in Marshall.
