GAME NOTES

SETTING THE SCENE: Southwest Minnesota State University will open the 2011 season on Thursday, Sept. 1, with a non-conference game at Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D.  Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Swisher Field.  It's the second straight season the two teams have meet to begin a season.  SMSU earned a 28-24 victory on Sept. 2 last season in Marshall.
