MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University athletics department held the third annual Mustang Stampede 5K/10K Walk/Run to benefit SMSU women's athletics on Saturday, Oct. 6.
The event had 182 participants with all proceeds going towards the SMSU athletic scholarship fund. John Callaghan was the male winner of the 5K run with a time of 19 minutes and 46 seconds, while Katherine Anundson was the women's winner with a time of 22:12.
Brian Hermanson won the men's 10K run with a time of 42.11, while Susan Norgaard won the women's 10K with a time of 50:22.
Participants could run/walk as an individual or join as a team. The team, Provost Posse, led by Beth Weatherby, raised the most funds, while Rycan Technologies of Marshall was the winner of the Marshall Area Business Challenge.
As of Oct. 11, nearly $9,000 was raised to benefit scholarships for SMSU athletics.
