SMSU returns home to battle Wayne State for 2012 Homecoming game on Saturday night

MUSTANGS LOOK TO SNAP LOSING STREAK TO WILDCATS SATURDAY  NIGHT
The Southwest Minnesota State University (1-4, 1-4 NSIC) football team returns home on Saturday, Oct. 6, to face Wayne State College (4-1, 4-1 NSIC) at Mattke Field at the Regional Event Center in Marshall.  The SMSU homecoming game is set to kickoff at 5 p.m. 
SMSU will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak since week two and also break a seven-game losing streak to WSC.  SMSU's last victory versus Wayne State was on Oct. 16, 2004, in Wayne, Neb.  SMSU's last win over the Wildcats in Marshall came on Oct. 27, 2001. 

LAST WEEK
Southwest Minnesota State played a solid game but dropped a 41-22 road decision to No. 25 Sioux Falls on Saturday night.  A touchdown by SMSU's Gannon Moore with 10:17 left in the game cut USF's lead to 27-22, but the Cougars scored a pair of touchdowns in final 8:16 to seal the victory.  Warren Matthews rushed for a game-high 99 yards on 14 carries, while Moore added 50 yards rushing and one touchdown on 10 carries.  Abe Kos finished with seven catches for 71 yards, setting career-highs in both categories.  

Wayne State picked up a 31-27 homecoming victory over Augustana with Nick Pulscher rushing for 145 yards and one touchdown on 21 carries.  Kevin Paulson added six receptions for 122 yards and two touchdowns, while Adam Stark added a 72-yard touchdown reception.  The Wildcats finished the game rushing for 230 yards and recorded 31 first downs.
