SMSU TRAVELS TO WINONA STATE FOR FINAL ROAD GAME OF 2012
The Southwest Minnesota State University (3-5 NSIC, 2-2 NSIC South) football team heads on the road for the final time this season taking on Winona State University (6-2 NSIC, 3-1 NSIC South) on Saturday, Oct. 27, in Winona, Minn. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. at Maxwell Field.
Winona State, which is ranked No. 7 in the first Super Region Three rankings released on Monday, has won 16 of the last 18 meetings between the two schools, including 10 straight at Maxwell Field.
Two of the top offensive units in the NSIC meet on Saturday, with SMSU ranked fourth in the conference in rushing offense and fifth in total offense, while WSU is fourth in total offense, including fifth in passing offense and sixth in rushing offense.
The game also features the NSIC's career rushing leader in WSU running back Rayon Simmons. The senior, who leads the NSIC this season in rushing yards and ranks ninth in the nation, holds the all-time NSIC record with 4,315 yards.

TOUGH SCHEDULE FOR SMSU
The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference has proven in recent years to be a one of the top conferences in the country. The first official NCAA Super Three region rankings released on Monday proves just how strong. Four of the top eight teams in the rankings are from the NSIC, with Minnesota State ranked No. 1, Minnesota Duluth No. 6, Winona State No. 7 and Sioux Falls No. 8. Three of SMSU's loses have come against three of those ranked teams, while SMSU will face WSU?this weekend.
