SMSU makes short trip to Mankato to battle No. 10 and undefeated Minnesota State

SMSU FOOTBALL TRAVELS TO MANKATO TO FACE NO. 10 MINNESOTA STATE
The Southwest Minnesota State University (2-4 NSIC, 1-1 NSIC South) football team returns to the road this Saturday, Oct. 13, to battle No. 10 Minnesota State University, Mankato (6-0 NSIC, 2-0 NSIC South) at Blakeslee Field in Mankato.  Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. 

SMSU, coming off a 40-24 home victory over Wayne State last Saturday, will be looking for its first-ever victory over Minnesota State, Mankato and its first-ever versus a nationally ranked NCAA II squad. 

MSU enters the game with the top-ranked defense in the country, allowing just 202.1 yards per game and ranks second in scoring defense with opponents scoring just 10.8 points per game.

LAST WEEK
Southwest Minnesota State rushed for a season-high 324 yards and forced three turnovers to earn a 40-24 victory over Wayne State in Marshall.  Gannon Moore rushed for 157 yards and one touchdown on a career-high 26 carries, while Warren Matthews finished with 150 yards and one touchdown on 22 carries.  Matthews also caught a 72-yard touchdown pass in the victory.  The SMSU defense limited WSC to just 264 yards of offense.

Minnesota State remained unbeaten with a 52-14  blowout road victory over Augustana.  Quarterback Mitch Brozovich rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns, while completing 10 of 14 passes for 162 yards and one touchdown and one interception.
