SMSU closes out 2012 season with home match-up versus Augustana College on Senior Day

MUSTANGS CONCLUDE SEASON THIS SATURDAY ON SENIOR DAY
The Southwest Minnesota State University (4-6 NSIC, 3-3 NSIC South) football team concludes the 2012 season on Saturday, Nov. 10, facing Augustana College (4-6 NSIC, 2-4 NSIC South) with kickoff slated for 1 p.m. at Mattke Field at the Regional Event Center.

A victory for SMSU would be its fourth in NSIC South division play, its highest total since division play was implemented in 2008.  It  would also ensure SMSU at least fourth place in the division, its highest since finishing fourth in 2008.

Saturday's game is the final home game for 18 Mustang senior players.  The players will be introduced, along with family members, prior to kickoff.

Southwest Minnesota State has not defeated Augustana since Sept. 7, 1991, a streak of 14 games.  SMSU is still searching for its first-ever win over one of the four former North Central Conference schools - Augustana, St. Cloud State, Minnesota Duluth and Minnesota State - since the schools joined the NSIC in 2008, going 0-14 since that time.

Augustana's six losses has guaranteed its first non-winning season since 2007, which was its last in the NCC.  The Vikings enter the week with one of the top offensive units in the country, ranking 27th in scoring offense and 36th in total offense.  In NSIC play, Augustana ranks second in scoring offense, fourth in total offense and sixth in rushing.
