MARSHALL, Minn. - The Southwest Minnesota State University Athletics Department held the seventh annual “Mustang Shootout”, presented by Marshall Radio, this past Saturday, Sept. 8, at Shooter's Sporting Clays east of Marshall.
Proceeds from the event go towards student-athlete scholarships at SMSU.
A record number 119 individuals participated in the event with first place honors going to Travis VanOverbeke, with Zac Corbin and Lance Hurd each tying for second place.
The team champion included Zac Corbin, Nathan Buysse and Leo Buysse, while the team of John Murphy, Leslie Murphy, Jeff Kessler and Jim Engvalson earned second place honors.
Ron Halgerson from Marshall won the Champion of Champions shoot-off. The special competition featured this year's champion and previous individual Mustang Shootout champions.
Kim Christensen won the Grand Prize drawing, a grill donated by Running's Farm & Fleet in Marshall.
