MANKATO, Minn. – The No. 2 Southwest Minnesota State volleyball team rebounded from its first loss of the season with a sweep of No. 11 Minnesota State, Mankato on Saturday afternoon, 25-22, 25-19 and 25-19. The Mustangs improved to 8-1 overall, 1-1 in the NSIC while the Mavericks dropped to 7-3 overall, 1-1 in the NSIC.
Mary Groth led all players with 14 kills, while
Abbey Thissen contributed with 11.
Devin Diedrich supplied seven kills along with five blocks,
Emilee Gutzmer tallied 43 assists with nine digs and
McKell Anderson led the defense with 15 digs.
SMSU's home opener is set for Tuesday, Sept. 18 as the Mustangs will welcome the University of Sioux Falls to the P.E. Gym in Marshall. The game is slated for 7 p.m.
