SMSU football begins two-game road swing this Saturday at Minnesota, Crookston

MUSTANGS BEGINS TWO-GAME ROAD SWING AT MINNESOTA, CROOKSTON
The Southwest Minnesota State University (1-2, 1-2 NSIC) football team plays the first of two straight Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference road games on Saturday, Sept. 22, taking on the University of Minnesota, Crookston (0-3, 0-3 NSIC).  Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. at Widseth Field in Crookston. 

LAST WEEK
Southwest Minnesota State dropped a tough 43-24 home decision to the University of Mary on Saturday night.  SMSU held a 24-17 lead into the fourth quarter, but the Marauders rallied with 26 unanswered points to earn the victory.  Following a missed field goal late in the third quarter that would've given SMSU a 10-point lead, the Mustangs had just 13 total yards of offense in its final five possessions.  Warren Matthews led SMSU with 78 yards rushing on 11 attempts, while also catching two passes for 87 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown.

Minnesota, Crookston dropped a 61-0 decision to Augustana in Sioux Falls, S.D., on Saturday.  Augustana racked up 319 yards rushing and 530 yards of total offense in the victory.  UMC was held to just 146 yards, including 71 passing.  Richard Haley rushed for 70 yards on 16 carries to pace UMC.
