ROLLA, Mo. – No. 3 Southwest Minnesota State swept Missouri Western State 3-0 on Friday afternoon in the second match of the Missouri S&T tournament to improve to 5-0 on the season. SMSU dominated Missouri Western State with an efficient offensive attack as it posted a .383 hitting percentage and held MWSU to a .138 hitting percentage.
Freshman setter,
Emilee Gutzmer recorded her second career double-double with 39 assists and 13 digs.
Devin Diedrich and
Mary Groth led the Mustang offense with 11 kills each, while
Abbey Thissen recorded eight.
Rachel Westby and
Emilee Gutzmer fronted the Mustang defense with 13 digs each.
Southwest Minnesota State will return to action tomorrow morning with a match against Emporia State at 9 a.m. and will closeout the tournament with a meeting against Northwest Missouri State at 1 p.m.
