ROLLA, Mo. – No. 3 Southwest Minnesota State volleyball swept Emporia State 3-0 (25-19, 27-25, 25-19) Saturday morning at the Missouri S&T tournament. SMSU improved to 6-0 on the season while Emporia State fell to 5-2.

Devin Diedrich led the Mustang offense with 16 kills on 33 attacks to compile an impressive .424 hitting percentage, while Mary Groth added 12 kills.

As a whole, the Mustangs recorded a .273 hitting percentage while Emporia State was held to a .162 hitting percentage. Emilee Gutzmer assisted on 48 of the 51 SMSU kills, while Rachel Westby led the Mustangs with 11 digs.

The second set was a back-and-forth contest as it featured 12 ties and six lead changes; SMSU prevailed 27-25. 

SMSU will conclude the Missouri S&T tournament against Northwest Missouri State this afternoon starting at 1 p.m.
