No. 6 SMSU volleyball's 11-match winning streak halted by No. 1 Concordia-St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn. -
The No. 6 Southwest Minnesota State volleyball team saw its 11-match winning streak come to an end at the hands of No. 1 Concordia-St. Paul in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Bears also ended SMSU's school record streaks of consecutive sweeps (7) and set victories (22).

With the loss, SMSU drops to 15-4, 10-1 NSIC, while CU takes sole possession of first-place in the NSIC standings with its 19-1, 11-0 NSIC record.

The story of the match was sloppy play from the Mustangs as they finished the match with 22 attack errors and a .092 attack percentage.  Abbey Thissen led the way with 11 kills for SMSU and Whitney Burmeister chipped in 12 digs.

The Mustangs combined to hit just .092 (32-22-109), while the Golden Bears put together a .300 hitting percentage for the match (36-9-90).

SMSU will return for a mid-week match versus Sioux Falls on Tuesday. The Mustangs will honor SMSU faculty as it is faculty appreciation night.
