SMSU looks to bounce back after tough weekend

THE FIRST SERVE
The No. 8 Southwest Minnesota State University volleyball team will continue Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action as it looks to bounce back from a pair of home losses this past weekend from No. 3 Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State. The Mustangs will travel to Sioux Falls Tuesday night to play the Cougars at the Stewart Center at 7 p.m.

OPPONENT AT A GLANCE
SIOUX FALLS—Sioux Falls will enter the contest with an overall record of 14-11, 8-7 NSIC. The Cougars are 3-2 in their last five games, losing to No. 3 Concordia-St. Paul last Sunday. Emily Johnson leads USF with 325 kills while hitting .226. Kate Hart and Jordan Calef have contributed a combined 494 and hitting .229 and .310, respectfully.

THE SERIES
Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls will meet for the 8th time and the 2nd of the season on Tuesday night with SMSU having a 6-1 record in a series that first started back in 1981. Southwest Minnesota State is 2-0 while playing in Sioux Falls.

NATIONAL NEWS 
SMSU is ranked No. 8 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 and has now been ranked in the poll for 115 consecutive weeks, dating back to Sept. 5, 2006.
