SMSU soccer closes out regular season this weekend

OPENING KICK
The Southwest Minnesota State soccer team will continue Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action after it went 1-1 the past weeknd against MSU Moorhead and Northern State. SMSU will travel to Wayne, Neb., for its final road game of the regular season before returning home to play the final home game of the season on Nov. 2 against Augustana.

OPPONENTS AT A GLANCE
WAYNE STATE—Wayne State will enter Friday's game with a 2-13-1 overall record, 1-12-1 NSIC. The two wins came from defeating Nebraska-Kearney in the begining of the season and Concordia-St. Paul.

AUGUSTANA—Augustana will enter the weekend with a 13-3 overall record, 11-2 NSIC before playing Sioux Falls on Saturday afternoon. Augie started conference play 6-0 before dropping its first loss to Minnesota Crookston. Augustana is 6-1 since, only losing to No. 1 Minnesota State.

THE SERIES
Southwest Minnesota State and Wayne State will meet for the 14th time on Friday afternoon with SMSU leading
11-9-3 in a series that started back in 1997. SMSU is 1-6-2 while playing in Wayne, Neb. SMSU and Augustana will meet for the 15th time Sunday with Augie having a 3-11-1 record in the series that started back in 2000. Southwest Minnesota State is 1-6 at home versus Augustana.
