WINONA, Minn. — Southwest Minnesota State soccer season came to a close at the hand of Winona State Wednesday night at Warrior Stadium by a score of 1-0. Winona State's Kati Baker scored her first goal of the season in the 20th minute to give the Warriors the victory and to knock out SMSU of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference / U.S. Bank Postseason Tournament.
Kendahl Fisher led the Mustangs with five shots on the night.
Miranda Cadena and
Autumn Hayes contributed two apiece.
Sophomore goalkeeper,
Brienna Dehkes recorded eight saves and finishes the season with an 8-8 record.
Southwest Minnesota State recorded 12 shots with seven on goal in the match while Winona State tallied 17 shots including nine on goal.
The Mustangs' loss is the second at Warrior Stadium this season and moves their losing streak to nine against the Warriors. The last time SMSU defeated WSU was in 2007 when the Mustangs took the match to a shoot out in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference tournament.
SMSU finished the 2014 season with an overall record of 10-8-1 and 9-6-1 in the NSIC. Head coach
