Colorado Mesa stops Mustangs streak

DENVER –
Southwest Minnesota State volleyball had its winning streak cut short after a 24-26, 25-22, 25-22, 25-21 loss to Colorado Mesa on Saturday at the Colorado Premier Challenge on the campus of Regis University.
 
Kenzie Beekman led the Mustangs with 12 kills and hitting .212 and Abbey Thissen finished with 11 kills hitting .172. Megan Larson contributed 30 assists in the competition.
 
The match consisted of 17 ties and 7 lead changes.
 
SMSU finished hitting just .181 with 10 blocks including five serve aces.
 
Southwest Minnesota State (4-3) will close out the tournament at 3:30 p.m. CDT taking on Regis University (Colo.).
