Mustangs close out tournament with a win

DENVER -
Southwest Minnesota State volleyball defeats Regis University (Colo.) 25-23, 22-25, 24-26, 25-22, 24-22 in the final game of the Colorado Premier Challenge in Denver, Colo.
 
Kenzie Beekman led the Mustangs in the win with 25 total kills, hitting .303. Whitney Burmeister contributed 18 kills in hitting .279 and Abbey Thissen tallied 13 kills including two solo blocks.
 
The Mustangs totaled nine blocks in the match while hitting a .229.
 
The closely fought competition tallied 44 ties and 15 lead changes.

Abbey Thissen was named to the all-tournament team as she finished with 50 kills and hit .241 in the Premeir Challenge. Thissen also tallied 15 blocks, three of them being solo.
 
Southwest Minnesota State (5-3) closed out the Colorado Premier Challenge 3-1. The Mustangs will return to the P.E. Gym on Tuesday for their home opener versus the University Sioux Falls (4-3) and will also open up NSIC play.
