Megan Landmark scores in 6-1 win over Sioux Falls

SMSU soccer dominates in conference opener

MARSHALL, Minn. - Southwest Minnesota State soccer team was in full control on Sunday night as they defeated Sioux Falls in opening Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play, 6-1.
 
Sarah Keppler started the scoring for the Mustangs in the 19th minute off an assist from Miranda Cadena for the sophomore's first goal of the season.
 
Sioux Falls retaliated in the 30th minute to knot up the score at 1-1.
 
Megan Landmark found the back of the net for the Mustangs in the 40th minute to help lead SMSU going into the half, 2-1.
 
SMSU controlled the second half as Autumn Hayes scored on a penalty kick in the 50th minute along with teammate, Miranda Cadena contributing from an assist from Hayes to increase the score to 4-1.
 
Kendahl Fisher put in her first goal of the year in the 60th minute along with Hayes finding the back of the net again in the 74th minute.
 
The Mustangs fired 20 shots in the match, 12 of them on goal. Sioux Falls had six shots, three of them on goal.
 
Southwest Minnesota State (2-2) will face Concordia-St. Paul (0-3) on Saturday, Sept. 20 at the Schwan Regional Event Center at 1 p.m.
