MARSHALL, Minn. - Kenzie Beekman tallied 10 kills in win over Bemidji State on Saturday afternoon in the PE Gym. Southwest Minnesota State won by scores of 25-14, 24-16, 25-17.
Kenzie Beekman led the Mustang offense as she recorded 10 kills in the match including two blocks.
Sarah Parker and
Claire Sames tallied a combined 14 kills including four and two blocks, respectfully.
Eisha Oden also contributed five blocks, one being solo.
Megan Larson powered the offense dishing out 22 assists in the match.
SMSU (9-5, 4-2 NSIC) hit .283 in the contest while posting nine blocks. Bemidji State (3-11, 1-5 NSIC) hit .065 and totaled six team blocks.
SMSU held control through all three sets. In set one the Mustangs started on a 10-3 run and hit .290. Southwest Minnesota State closed set one, 25-14
In set two the Mustangs again started on 10-4 run and didn't let up. The Mustangs hit a match-high .400 and took set two, 25-16.
In the final set, Bemidji State started off playing right with SMSU. The Beavers started with a 1-4 run before the Mustangs high powered offense came back and took the lead and finished the final set, 25-17.
No.7 Southwest Minnesota State will continue NSIC action next Friday as they host Minot State Friday evening at 7 p.m. in the PE Gym.
