MARSHALL, Minn. - Head coach
Terry Culhane earned his 300th career win as the No. 5 Southwest Minnesota State volleyball team swept St. Cloud State on Saturday in the PE Gym by scores of 25-12, 25-15, 25-11.
SMSU (14-3, 7-2 NSIC) swept the Huskies for the 10th straight time and the 16th straight win. Head coach Culhane is now only eight wins behind program leader Deb Denbeck (1985-2002).
Abbey Thissen led the Mustang offense-which finished hitting a season-high .362-with 15 kills while hitting a season-high .481.
Eisha Oden added nine kills while hitting a career-high .562.
Taylor Reiss and
Sarah Parker both added six and eight kills, respectfully.
Megan Larson powered the offense as the sophomore dished out 35 assists in the sweep.
The Mustang defense controlled the net as they held their opponent to just a .087 hitting percentage for the third time this season holding an opponent under .100. Oden led the way with four blocks, while Parker, Larson and
Kenzie Beekman each added two apiece.
SMSU will head on the road to Minnesota Crookston on Friday night for a 7 p.m. start before facing Bemidji State on Saturday at 4 p.m.
