The Marauders capitalized on 13 hits for nine runs while the Mustangs tallied 10 hits and left 10 runners on base in the opener.

U-Mary (16-20, 5-5 NSIC) scored first in bottom of the first inning but SMSU (15-15, 4-4 NSIC) came back with four runs of its own in the top of the fourth to lead, 4-3. U-Mary scored three runs over the next two innings to regain a 6-4 lead.

The Mustangs cut the lead down to one in the top of the sixth but the Marauders scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to cement a 9-5 win in game one.

Jazmyne Neely led the Mustangs offense, with a 4 for 4 with a run scored from the dish while, Katelyn Kalkman and Elissa Reinsma finished 2 for 4 with a run and a pair of runs scored, respectfully.

In game two, SMSU jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first and later held a 7-2 lead in the second, before U-Mary rallied to take the lead. The Marauders scored six runs in the bottom of the second to an 8-7 lead, but SMSU rallied with nine unanswered runs to earn the win.

Trailing 8-7 in the fourth, SMSU regained the lead with three runs on four hits. Hanson tied the game with an RBI single, while Neely gave SMSU a 9-8 lead with a run-scoring single. Hanson later scored on a double steal to build a 10-8 lead.

The Mustangs scored a pair of unearned runs in the sixth and then put the game away in the seventh as Madisson Chadwick blasted a grand slam—her first long ball of the season—to make the score 16-7.

Chadwick paced SMSU going 3 for 4 with four RBIs and four runs scored, Kalkman was 3 for 4 with four runs scored, while Kailey Hanson and Neely each finished with four RBIs.
