MARSHALL, Minn. -- The Southwest Minnesota State University wrestling team opened the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference dual season tonight with a 36-3 loss to No. 1 ranked and two-time NCAA champion St. Cloud State.

Cortez Arredondo picked up the lone victory for SMSU at 149 pounds with a 7-4 decision over Taner Trembley.

SCSU won by major decision at 125, by decision at 133 and by major decision at 141, to build an 11-0 lead, before Arredondo moved to 7-4 on the season with his victory at 149.

Trailing 11-3, SMSU lost by tech. fall at 157, before Keegan Fingalsen dropped a hard-fought 15-10 bout at 165, to push the SCSU lead to 19-3.

Cole Hennen dropped a tough 4-2 decision at 197. SCSU closed the match with a major decision at 197, before earning an injury default win at 285.
