MINOT, N.D..— The Southwest Minnesota State women's volleyball team won its second match of the weekend with a 25-10, 25-20, 25-14 sweep over Minot State on Saturday afternoon.
The Mustangs had another effective attack and hit .363 as a team while racking up 10 total service aces, tied for the most they've had this season.
Taylor Reiss led the SMSU attack with 16 kills and a .448 hitting percentage.
Sarah Parker had five blocks and added another eight kills off of just 14 total attacks while
Eisha Oden had 11 kills while hitting .471.
After trading the lead twice, the Mustangs ran away with the opening set, 25-10 with 13 kills and a .667 hitting percentage as a team. SMSU took advantage of a struggling Minot attack as Minot State finished the match hitting just .042 with 18 hitting errors and six service errors.
SMSU won the second set 25-20 and led the whole way in the third and final set winning, 25-14.
The win helps SMSU improve to 10-3 on the year with a 4-1 NSIC record. Minot State drops to 5-9 and is still searching for its first conference win as they are now 0-5 in NSIC matches.
The Mustangs will now return to Marshall for alumni weekend. They will host Northern State on Friday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m. followed by an afternoon match on Saturday against MSU Moorhead at 3 p.m. as a part of Southwest Minnesota State's homecoming festivities.
