BISMARCK, N.D.- The Southwest Minnesota State wreslting team (6-11, 2-3 NSIC) completed a perfect 2-0 weekend after defeating the University of Mary (5-6, 1-3 NSIC) 20-16 on Friday night.
The Marauders won the first three weight classes to start the night including a major decision at 133 to take a 10-0 lead. SMSU responded by winning its next three bouts, taking a one point lead in the match with the help of two major decisions from
Jake Slocum and
Kegen Fingalsen respectively.
Cole Hennen won by tech fall at 184 and
Jackson Ryan earned a 15-6 major decision at 197 to give SMSU its second consecutive victory.
The Mustangs will travel to face the conference leaders, Minnesota State Mankato, on Thursday at 7 p.m., followed by a match at Northern State on Sunday, Feb. 5, at 2 p.m.
