FAYETTE, Iowa- Southwest Minnesota State had nine hits and seven earned runs as a team in a 7-3 game one win and followed up with a six-run inning in game two on the way to a 7-2 win to complete the doubleheader sweep over Upper Iowa on Sunday afternoon.

Victoria Brooks went a perfect 3 for 3 with one RBI and one run scored in the first game of the day while
Abbie Decker hit a two-run homer, finishing with three RBI.
Alex O'Connor earned the win as she gave up just two earned runs on six hits in a complete game effort.
Taylor Koloc had her seventh multi-hit game of the season going 2 for 3 with two RBI.
Tori Brooks led the game off with a single and later came around to score the game's first run on an RBI single from
Micki Williams.
Decker's two-run long ball in the second inning pushed the SMSU lead to 3-0. Koloc hit a solo homer to left in the top of the fifth and the Mustangs scored three runs in the sixth off of just two hits.
O'Connor's pitching limited Upper Iowa to just one earned run in the final five innings and SMSU came away with its first road NSIC win of the season.

Mackenzie Clouse and
Karmann Carroll each had their first home runs of the year while
Sam Flack went 3 for 4 from the plate after going hitless in the first game.
Athena Golling was credited with the win after pitching four innings with three strikeouts while allowing just five hits and two runs.
Megan Cull came on in relief and had five strikeouts in three innings from the circle. Cull faced 13 batters and allowed just three hits.
The Mustangs trailed by one run after two innings when their offense exploded for six runs in the top of the third.
Madison Krog got the scoring started with a two RBI double to left center. The Mustangs then followed up with back-to-back home runs with two outs. Clouse homered first with runners on the corners and Carroll had a solo homer to give SMSU a 6-1 lead.
SMSU would add one more run in the sixth inning off of back-to-back two out hits from
Emma Grote and
Sam Flack.
The win improves the Mustangs' overall record to 12-10 including a 3-3 NSIC mark.
Southwest Minnesota State will now host a doubleheader against Concordia-St. Paul on Tuesday beginning at 2 p.m.
