MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's soccer team opened the 2017 season tonight with an 8-0 exhibition victory over Dordt College (Iowa) at the Schwan Regional Event Center.
The teams played a pair of 30-minute halves.
SMSU was in control for the entire match, with
Amanda Hartmann scoring a pair of goals in the first four minutes to give the Mustangs a quick 2-0 advantage.
The score remained 2-0 into the second half before goals by
Alli Miskowiec,
Cassidy Erickson and
Olivia Harriger pushed the lead to 5-0 with less than 10 minutes remaining in the game.
Erin Fisher then followed with a natural hat trick, scoring three goals in less than three minutes, to extend the lead to 8-0.
Jessica Craigmile played the first half in goal for SMSU, while
Jenna Meyer played the final 30 minutes.
SMSU finished with a 22-1 shot advantage, including 17 on goal.
Southwest Minnesota State concludes exhibition action on Sunday with a 1 p.m. match at St. Ben's in St. Joseph, Minnesota.
