SMSU women's soccer heads on the road to UMD and SCSU

DULUTH, Minn. - The Southwest Minnesota State women's soccer team heads on the road this weekend beginning with a 6 p.m. match at Minnesota Duluth on Friday night. SMSU then travels to St. Cloud State on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match. 

SMSU Notes
SMSU is 3-10 overall with a 3-8 conference record with eight points. UMD is 5-8-1 overall record, 4-6-1 NSIC, with 13 points, white SCSU currently ranks sixth in the conference with a 5-5-4 overall record and 5-3-3 in the conference with 18 points. 

The Mustangs have dropped the last consecutive four games at home, although SMSU is 3-2 away this season. 

SMSU is led by Alli Miskowiec and Abbey Hoisington with each recording five goals this season. 

Goalkeepers Jessica Craigmile and Jenna Meyer split this weekend, each playing all 90 minutes of their respective games. Craigmile played all 90 minutes as goalkeeper with seven saves against UMary, Craigmile has a 2-6 record. Meyer played all 90 minutes against MSU as goalkeeper with seven saves. Meyer maintains a 1-4 record this season.

Minnesota Duluth Notes
Minnesota Duluth maintains a 5-8-1 overall, 4-6-1 NSIC record. UMD has dropped the last two matches, both 1-0 losses to Winona State and Upper Iowa. The Bulldogs have been shut out in six games this season. Nan Glinsek leads the Bulldogs with three goals this season with 32 shots, 17 of them on goal. Glinsek is closely followed by Julia Osborne and Natalie St Martin with two goals each. Sisley Nig has 43 saves at goalkeeper this season with a 4-4-1 record and Carlye Wright adds 18 saves with a 1-4 record.

UMD Series History 
Minnesota Duluth leads the series 23-4 dating back to Oct. 12, 1996. The series opened with the Mustangs earning a 21 game losing streak which ended on Sept. 28, 2013 with a 3-0 Mustang victory at home. Since then, the series the Mustangs have one three of the last five matches. UMD won the last match 3-1 on Oct. 14, 2017 at Minnesota Duluth.

St. Cloud Notes
St. Cloud State has an 5-5-4 overall and 5-3-3 NSIC record. SCSU junior forward Hannah Marion and freshman Goalkeeper Zoe Welsh earned NSIC Offensive Player of the Week and Goalkeeper of the Week on Oct. 8. Marion leads in goals scored with seven, shots with 34 and shots on goal with 23. Welsh has a 5-4-4 record with 52 saves this season. 

SCSU Series History
St. Cloud leads the series 14-8-2 dating back to Oct. 6, 1996. Of the Mustangs eight victories, six of them game from a six-match winning streak which began on Sept. 17, 2011 with a 1-0 Mustang victory at St. Cloud. The streak was broken on Oct. 15, 2016 with a 1-1 draw in double-overtime in Marshall. The Mustangs dropped the last match 1-2 in overtime on Oct. 15, 2017 in St. Cloud.

Southwest Minnesota State returns home next Friday, Oct. 26 at 4 p.m. against Winona State for its final regular season home game.
