MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's volleyball defended its home court for the last time in regular season play with a sweep over Minnesota State (25-6, 25-18, 25-13) on Saturday afternoon in the PE Gym.

SMSU extends its six-match winning streak to advance to 19-7 overall and 14-4 in the NSIC while MSU dropped to 16-10 and 9-9 in the conference.

The Mustangs recorded a team .400 hitting percentage while holding the Mavericks to .044 throughout the match.
Taylor Reiss lead all with a double-double recorded 16 kills with 10 digs to lead the Mustangs to the conference victory.
Jenna Walczak recorded four kills with a .800 hitting percentage and
Sarina Smith added five to go .444 on the day.

The Mustangs opened set one with a 15-0 run to go up 17-2 claim the victory in set one. The Mustangs recorded a match-high .529 team hitting percentage while holding the Mavericks to -.172 with a final set score 25-6.

The Mavericks held on in set two going point-for-point until the Mustangs pulled away at 9-9 with a 4-0 run to go up 13-9. The Mustangs maintained the lead throughout set two as Reiss delivered a kill to end the set, 25-18.

Set three was the Mustangs from the start as there were no lead changes or tied scores. With
Kaylee Burmeister on the line, the Mustangs opened the set with a 5-0 lead before extending the lead to 10-2. The Mustangs kept the victory in sight as they went for three unanswered points with the final being a kill from
Angela Young to end set three 25-13.

Southwest Minnesota State ends the regular season on the road next weekend with a 6 p.m. match at Upper Iowa on Friday and a 2 p.m. match at Winona State on Saturday.Â
