MARSHALL, Minn. - The Southwest Minnesota State (3-6, 3-4 NSIC) women's soccer team prepares to host Minnesota State (7-1-1 overall, 5-0-1 NSIC) on Friday at 3 p.m. to open homecoming weekend. SMSU concludes the weekend with a 1 p.m. game against Concordia-St. Paul (6-1-2 overall, 3-2-1 NSIC) at the Schwan Regional Event Center. 
SMSU went 1-1 last weekend in its road weekend after defeating Minnesota Crookston 4-1 on Friday afternoon. 
Abbey Hoisington accounted for two goals in the game, her fourth and fifth goals of the season, making her the team leader in goals this season.  
Alli Miskowiec also scored her fourth goal and assisted 
Alex Harmdierks in her first goal of the season. Miskowiec has four goals this season off 24 shots, 15 of them on goal.
On Sunday, SMSU fell 4-0 to conference leader, No. 7 Bemidji State, to conclude weekend play. 
Goalkeeper 
Jessica Craigmile, a previous NSIC Goalkeeper of the Week recipient, with a 2-4 record this season, has recorded 47 saves in the previous six games. 
Jenna Meyer is 1-2 with 11 saves.
 
Opponent at a glance 
MSU shutout Minot State on Sunday with a 5-0 victory. The victory was evenly distributed between Morgan Cottew, Maddy Burandt, Dakota Wendell, Danielle Tazic, and Julia Zach. Wendell leads the Mavericks with five goals scored this season, followed by Zach with four goals recorded. Defender Abby Hausken is the latest NSIC Defensive Player of the Week this
week for the third time in her career.
 
Series History
SMSU trails 1-17-1 in a series which began Oct. 29, 1996. The Mustangs first and only victory in the series on Nov. 17, 2013 at Minnesota State in a 2-1 victory in the NCAA tournament.
 
Opponent at a glance 
Concordia-St. Paul defeated UMary 3-0 its latest match. Emily Boyer, Haleigh Bares, and Brook Salo all accounted for one goal in the victory. Salo leads the Golden Bears with four goals and nine points. Jade Weller leads with 20 shots, eight of them on goal. Goalkeepers Emily Nelson and Jordyn Clark who have recorded 12 and 14
saves respectively. Nelson maintains a 1-1 record while Clark maintains a perfect 5-0 record.

SMSU leads the series 11-9-1 in a series which began on Oct. 2, 1999. The Mustangs opened the series with a seven-game winning streak. Separated by a draw and a victory, CSP then went on its own seven game winning
streak. The Mustangs have won three of the last five matches. SMSU leads 6-5 at home and 11-8-1 in the conference.
