MOORHEAD, Minn.- MSU Moorhead had two pins and one major decision to distance itself from Southwest Minnesota State in a 25-13 win for MSUM on Saturday afternoon in the Nemzek Fieldhouse.
Brock Buysse (133) picked up an 18-5 major decision to answer a Dragons' major decision at 125 and even the match at 4-4.
MSU Moorhead came right back with a win by fall to go up 10-4 and picked up another decision at 149 to go ahead 13-4.
Cortez Arredondo earned a 4-0 decision to cut the Dragons' lead to 13-7 but MSU Moorhead would pull away again with a tight 3-2 decision at 165 and its second pin of the day at 174.
Cole Hennen (184) and
Jackson Ryan (197) won back-to-back decisions for the Mustangs but SMSU was unable to make up the difference in team points as MSU Moorhead finished with a heavyweight decision to capture its second consecutive dual win.
SMSU will now have two weeks to prepare for the 2018 NCAA Super Region 3 Tournament in St. Cloud, Minn. on Feb. 23-24.
