SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Southwest Minnesota State softball team had its season come to a close on Saturday morning with a 14-1 loss to Augustana at the NSIC Tournament at Bowden Field.

SMSU, the tournament's 10
th seed, won three of its first four games in the tournament and was one of four teams remaining entering the tournament's final day.
SMSU's
Kali Tomlinson and
Mackenzie Clouse, were both selected to the NSIC All-Tournament team.

SMSU, which finishes the season the season 18-26, scored the game's first run in the top of the first as
Emma Grote led the game off with a single and later scored on a run-scoring base hit by
Bailey Johnson.

SMSU held the lead until the bottom of the second when the Vikings plated four runs on five hits and one Mustang error.

Augustana (40-12) would go on to score three runs in the third and seven more in the fourth to win via run-rule.

Megan Cull (7-10) started in the circle for SMSU and lasted 2 1/3 innings, allowing six runs on eight hits.

SMSU finished the game with five hits, while Augustana recorded 16.

Today was the final game for SMSU's lone senior
Mackenzie Clouse, who finished the season batting .291 and tied for the team-lead with 11 doubles.
