DENVER, Colo. -  Southwest Minnesota State (4-2) went undefeated in pool play this afternoon to advance to the gold bracket on Saturday with a sweep over Saint Leo (3-3). SMSU won in five-sets against Colorado Christian early in the afternoon, the other competitor in its pool. SMSU came out strong to defeat SLU 25-16, 25-17, 25-13.
 
Taylor Reiss had a match-high 11 kills and recorded 10 digs which sparked a few runs for the Mustangs throughout the match. The Mustangs went on a 9-0 run in the first set and never looked back for a 25-16 victory.
 
Although the first two sets were tied early on, in the third match, the Mustangs never gave up the lead. The Mustangs had, at times, a ten point lead over the Lions. SLU committed 27 errors compared to SMSU's 15 in today's match.

 
Sarina Smith hit .615 after eight kills and 13 attacks and Kaylee Burmeister recorded 16 digs to help the Mustangs to victory.
 
The Mustangs are now in the gold bracket for tomorrow's tournament. They will play the winner of pool three which consisted of: Regis, Angelo State, and Missouri Western. The Mustangs will play the winner of that pool tomorrow at 12:30 a.m. at the Regis Fieldhouse.
