MARSHALL, Minn. – The No. 7 Southwest Minnesota State women's volleyball team (8-3, 3-0 NSIC) continues its three-match homestand this weekend taking on Winona State (3-8, 0-3 NSIC) on Friday night at 6 p.m., followed by a meeting with Upper Iowa (8-3, 1-2 NSIC) on Saturday at 2 p.m., both at the PE Gym.
SMSU looks to continue its undefeated streak in conference play after the sweep of Sioux Falls (25-17, 25-21, 25-19) on Tuesday night.
Taylor Reiss recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 13 kills and 10 digs.
Meg Schmidt and
Angela Young added 11 and 10 digs respectively.
Emma Thomssen was named NSIC Setter of the Week after setting a new career-high of 61 assists in the five-set victory over Wayne State last Saturday, added 38 assists in SMSU's victory Tuesday night.
Reiss currently leads the conference in attacks per set (13.38), kills per set (5.15), points per set (5.64), total attacks (5.35), and total kills (206). She recently moved up to second in all-time career kills with 1688. She also ranks second in kills per set (4.72), third in attack attempts (4152), third in points per set (5.34), fourth in points (1912.5), and eighth in attack percentage (.306).

The Warriors enter the contest 3-8 overall and 0-3 in the NSIC. Megan Flom leads the Warriors in kills with 139 and 3.39 kills per set ... Bre Maloney has recorded 374 assists this season. The Warrior defense is led by Becca Pagel who has dished out 158 digs Taylor Goal adds 117 digs, Maloney, 96, Sarah Suits, 90, and Cori Meyers, 86 ... The Warriors fell to Upper Iowa on Tuesday night in four-sets (22-25, 25-13, 25-22, 25-11). Flom and Page Christopher led the team with nine kills each. Maloney had her sixth double-double of the year with 34 assists and 10 digs.
Series History
The Mustangs enter the 97th meeting of the series, which began in 1974, leading 65-30-1. The Mustangs lead 53-14 in conference matches and are 27-12 at home. SMSU has won 42 of the last 45 meetings since 1993. The Warriors snapped a 13-match winning streak for the Mustangs on Nov. 21, 2015, in a five-set victory at the NSIC Tournament. Following the Mustangs loss in 2015, SMSU has won the last two matches in five sets.

Series History
The Mustangs are undefeated winning all 23 matches in a series that began on Sept. 10, 2004. The Mustangs have swept 16 of the matches. SMSU won both matches last season, including 3-1 in the quarterfinals of the NSIC Tournament in Marshall.
The Southwest Minnesota State travel to Mankato to take on Minnesota State on Friday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. at the Taylor Center following the conclusion of the weekend matches.
