SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's soccer team (2-2, 0-0) travels to Sioux Falls on Friday for the conference opener against Sioux Falls (1-1, 0-0) at 5 p.m.
SMSU dropped opened the regular season opener last weekend in Fayette, Iowa, falling to Washburn (2-0) 2-1, and dropping one to Fort Hays State (1-1), 4-1.
Morgan Darner scored the only goal of the weekend in the game against Fort Hays state in the 62 minute, assisted by
Kelli Wentz.

Head coach, Brittany Domino, in her fourth season, has a career record 10-35-8 overall and 8-30-7 in the conference. Cougar offense is led by four players with one goal each this season: Lily McKown, Chessa Novotny, Taylor Kelley, and Erin O'Tool. Goalkeeper Brayden Paul has nine saves so far this season.

SMSU leads 7-6 in a series that began on Sept. 14, 1996. USF won the last meeting on Sept. 8, 2017, 2-0. This broke a five-year consecutive winning streak for the Mustangs versus the Cougars. The series is broken down to the Mustangs leading 5-1 in the conference, 4-3 at home, and 3-3 away.
