SMSU returns home facing Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State, looks to snap losing streak

MARSHALL, Minn. - The Southwest Minnesota State women's soccer team (6-6, 4-6 NSIC) returns home after a four-game road series, to host Minnesota Duluth (4-7-2, 2-6-2 NSIC)  on Friday at 6 p.m. and St. Cloud State (6-3-3, 5-2-2 NSIC)  on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Schwan Regional Event Center. 
•SMSU looks to snap a five-game losing streak which began on Oct. 6. 
•SMSU dropped a 3-0 game to UMary and 3-2 loss to Minot State this past weekend. 
•The Mustangs started conference and maintained a four-game winning streak and looks to maintain a spot in the top-eight teams in the conference. 
•SMSU is tied with Winona State in the eight spot in the NSIC.
Alli Miskowiec leads the team in scoring with five goals, 15 points, 40 shots wth 28 of them on goal. 
•Miskowiec ties Abbey Hoisington with five assists this season.

Series History
•UMD holds a 24-4 advantage over SMSU in a series dating back to 1996. 
•UMD opened the series with a 21-game winning streak. 
•SMSU held a three-game winning streak of its own from Oct. 5, 2014 to Oct. 16, 2016. 
•SMSU has dropped the last two meetings, the last a 2-1 loss in Duluth on Oct. 19, 2018.
Minnesota Duluth Notes
•Head coach, Greg Cane,is in his 25th season with a 262-167-46 overall record and 116-40-18 record in the NSIC. 
•Emily Hinz leads the Bulldogs in scoring with six  goals on the season. Hinz also leads in points with 13.  There are 10 other Bulldogs who have one goal on the season. 
•Sophia Grenz is the sole goalkeeper with a 66 saves, 15 goals allowed and one shutout.

Series History
•St. Cloud State has a 15-8-2 advantage over SMSU in the all-time series dating back to Oct 8, 1996.
•SMSU held a six-game winning streak from Sept. 17, 2011 to Oct. 3, 2015, which was SMSU's last victory in a 3-0 shutout.
•SMSU has lost the last two meetings after playing to a draw on Oct. 15, 2016.
•SMSU dropped the last game on Oct. 21 with a 2-0 shutout. 
St. Cloud State Notes
•Head coach, Gretta Arvesen, is in her sixth season with a 44-43-17 overall record and 38-31-15 record in the NSIC.
•Claire Shea leads the Huskies in scoring with four goals scored for 10 points off 47 shots.  Jenna Dominguez has three goals this season and leads in game-winning goals with two. 
•Zoe Welsh is the sole goalkeeper for SCSU with 11 goals allowed, 55 saves, and four shut-outs.

•SMSU splits next weekend with a 6 p.m. game at Winona State on Friday, Nov. 1, before returning home for a 1 p.m. senior day hosting Upper Iowa on Sunday, Nov. 3.
