MARSHALL, Minn. -- Winona State, ranked No. 9 in this week's NCAA region rankings, pushed its winning streak to five in a row with a 41-13 victory over Southwest Minnesota State in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference football on Saturday at the Schwan Regional Event Center.

The Mustangs finished the game with 355 yards of offense and 27 first downs.
Daniel Davis, who was named SMSU's most valuable player for the game, caught a game-high 13 passes for 150 yards and one touchdown. It's his fourth straight 100-yard receiving game and the 11
th of his career, ranking fifth in team history.

Boyer Bouman completed 24 of 42 pass attempts for 267 yards and two touchdowns, but was sacked seven times.
Duce Reynolds led the Mustangs with 41 yards rushing on nine carries.

WSU finished the game with 451 yards of offense, including 175 on the ground and 22 first downs. Sam Santiago-Lloyd led the Warriors with 140 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 22 carries. Jake Balliu caught five passes for 90 yards, while Jaylen Schleicher had two receptions for 76 yards and two touchdowns.

WSU linebacker Nick Pridgeon was named the Warriors' most valuable player registering 12 tackles, including 2.5 for loss and 1.5 sacks.

SMSU closed the game 7 of 18 on third-down conversions, while WSU was 6 of 9.

WSU opened the game's scoring on its second drive of the contest as Santiago-Lloyd scored on a 2-yard run with 3:13 on the clock to take a 7-0 advantage following a Paul Ortiz PAT.

The score remained 7-0 until late in the first half before both teams each reached the end zone in the final minute. The Warriors struck first as Schleicher took a short pass from Owen Burke and broke free for a 54-yard touchdown reception to make the score 14-0 with 51 seconds left in the half.

Following a personal foul on WSU after the touchdown, SMSU started the ensuing drive from its own 40-yard line following a 12-yard kickoff return by Reynolds.

Bouman started the scoring drive with a 7-yard reception to
Luke Narveson and followed it with an 18-yard completion to
Albert Lemon down to the WSU 35-yard line. After a 2-yard run by Bouman,
Trey Sachs caught a 13-yard pass down to the WSU 20-yard line with 12 seconds remaining. Bouman put SMSU on the board moments later connecting with
Bailey Olson on a 20-yard touchdown strike with six seconds remaining. The PAT was missed giving WSU a 14-6 halftime advantage.

WSU had a big kickoff return to open the second half and added to the lead as Santiago-Lloyd capped off a four-play, 25-yard drive with a 2-yard touchdown to make the score 21-6.

SMSU drove to the WSU 28-yard on its first drive of the second half, but four straight completions and a sack on fourth down ended the scoring threat.

WSU added to the lead on its next drive as back-up quarterback John Rumpza fired a 22-yard touchdown pass to Schleicher with 6:39 remaining in the third quarter to push the lead to 28-6.

SMSU cut into the deficit on its next drive as Bouman found Davis for a 13-yard, one-handed touchdown reception with 2:48 remaining in the third quarter to cut the WSU lead to 28-13.

The Warriors once again struck quick to regain a three-touchdown lead as Landon Jacobson scored from 1-yard out to make the score 35-13 after three quarters of play.

Jonny Chamberlain scored the game's final touchdown with a 3-yard run midway through the fourth quarter.

Onte Burns recorded a game-high 14 tackles for the Mustangs, while
Davaeon Johnson added eight tackles.
