LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Southwest Minnesota State University volleyball team (8-2, 2-0 NSIC) remains at the No. 9 spot in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 Division II weekly poll released on Monday afternoon.
 
SMSU is 8-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference after opening the conference with sweeps over Minot State and UMary this past weekend.
 
SMSU has been ranked in the Top 25 for 179 consecutive polls, dating back to Sept. 5, 2006.
 
SMSU is one eight NSIC schools ranked in this week's Top 25 with Minnesota Duluth leading the way at No. 4. Concordia-St. Paul is ranked No. 7, followed by Northern State at No. 8, SMSU at No. 9, St. Cloud State at No. 15, Wayne State at No. 17, Sioux Falls at No. 19 and Upper Iowa at No. 23.   
 
Southwest Minnesota State hosts No. 8 Northern State on Friday at 6 p.m. in the home opener of the season for the annual white out game in the PE Gym. SMSU will host MSU Moorhead on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. to cap off the home opening weekend.
