MARSHALL, Minn. -- Southwest Minnesota State used a pair of late second half goals to rally past Black Hills State 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at the Schwan Regional Event Center.
It was the season-opening game for SMSU while BHSU drops to 0-2 on the season.
SMSU, which trailed 1-0 at halftime, tied the game in the 78th minute on the first career goal by
Jessica Jugovich off an assist from
Lexi Smith. Moments later
Erin Fisher broke free and scored in the 79th minute for the game-winning goal off a pass from
Olivia Harriger.
SMSU held a 13-4 advantage on shots including seven on goal.
Amanda Haimes earned the victory in goal for the Mustangs making one save.
Southwest Minnesota State continues non-conference play on Thursday at William Jewell (Mo.).
