Game 1
Game 2

MOORHEAD, Minn.-  The Southwest Minnesota State University softball team (17-11, 8-6 NSIC) split its Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader against Minnesota State University Moorhead (7-21, 5-9) suffering a close 2-1 loss in game one but would rally back in game two putting up an impressive 7-0 victory.

Shelby Bloemendaal would earn her second career shutout for the Mustangs, allowing four hits and recording five strike outs in game two. Alongside the outstanding pitching, catcher Molly Bull would record three hits with an RBI to pace the offense.

SMSU would get started in the first inning with Emma Grote scoring off of an error by the Dragons going up 1-0. Grote would finished the game with three hits in the game.
The Mustangs would keep things going in the second earning another run with Wolfe singling to center field and bringing home Molly Bull.

SMSU would maintain the one-run lead before hitting its stride in the fourth where the team would record four runs and four hits with Kali Tomlinson, Jillian Noel, Kaylee Hentges, and Madysson Schliinz all scoring. The Mustangs would command the lead 6-0. Noel would finish the game with two hits and two runs.

The Mustangs would add one more run on in the sixth with Noel scoring on an error and pushing the lead to 7-0.

In game one, the Dragons would take no time getting on the board recording two runs and three hits in the bottom of the first.

In the second, Hentges would be walked and then proceeded to steal second but with a strikeout and a ground out SMSU would remain scoreless in the second inning. Megan Cull would earn her third strike out on the day keeping the Dragons at bay.

SMSU would remain scoreless through five innings having two scoring opportunities in the fifth and sixth inning with bases loaded, but couldn't capitalize to take the lead with a ground out in the fifth, and in the sixth  scoring one run off of a Patia Wolf single bringing home Schliinz. A fielder's choice at third would end any further scoring for the Mustangs, leaving three runners on in the bottom of the sixth.

Cull would hold the Dragons with two strikeouts, totaling six on the day, and only allow one hit through the four inning scoring drought. She would allow a total of five hits and two runs throwing a total of six innings in the circle.

The Mustangs will be back in action tomorrow at 11 a.m. going against Northern State in another NSIC doubleheader in Aberdeen, S.D.
