SMSU soccer falls in exhibition game against St. Ben's

MARSHALL, Minn.– The Southwest Minnesota State women's soccer team fell 1-0 to the College of St. Ben's in an exhibition match on Friday afternoon at the Schwan Regional Event Center
 
St. Ben's took an early lead, striking in the sixth minute to take a 1-0 lead that would not be relinquished. The Mustangs applied pressure the entire game, outshooting the Bennies 13-4. Freshman Kirsten Wetterstrom led the way with seven shots. 
 
St. Ben's three goalies combined to make seven saves, while SMSU tallied two, both made by freshman Julianne Arballo
 
Southwest Minnesota State concludes exhibition play Saturday, facing off against Dakota Wesleyan at home, before opening the regular season on the road at Black Hills State (S.D.) on Sept. 3 at 4 p.m.
