MARSHALL, Minn. – Southwest Minnesota State and the University of Mary women's soccer teams met on Sunday afternoon resulting in a 1-0 final in favor of UMary in Marshall.
The Mustangs (1-5, 0-4 NSIC) defense was stellar throughout, limiting the UMary (4-1-2, 3-0-1) attack to four shots on goal, making great plays on the back end to slow them down. UMary scored the game winner in the 60
th minute, with an impressive passing display leading to a Hannah Richter goal.
Laney Brill led the way for the Mustangs offense, taking three shots and collecting three of the four shots on goal for the Mustangs.
Madi Foutz collected the other shot on goal, with
Kirsten Wetterstrom and
Destinee Lopez adding shots.
Meghan Harkin recorded three saves in net.
Southwest Minnesota State heads to St. Cloud State for a matchup on Friday, Oct. 1 at 1 p.m, before traveling to Minnesota Duluth for a matchup with the Bulldogs on Sunday, Oct. 3.
