TOPEKA, Kan. – The Southwest Minnesota State softball team (5-7) finished out the Washburn Invitational with a 11-2 loss at the hands of Washburn (12-6) on the campus of Washburn University on Sunday afternoon.
After the Mustangs scored a pair of first inning runs, the Icabods would take control, scoring 11 straight runs in five innings.
Seven different Mustangs recorded a hit, led by
Jillian Noel, who would go 1 for 2 while driving in both runs with a double.
Shelby Bloemendaal (3-3) would be dealt the loss, surrendering 10 runs (all earned) on 11 hits, walking one and hitting two batters.
The Mustangs travel to Winter Haven, Fla., for eight games in their annual 'Spring Games' from Mar. 5-9
