WINONA, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State softball team (9-18) dropped a pair of games, 10-2 and 11-0, to Winona State (18-8) at Alumni Field on the campus of Winona State University.
Jillian Noel would have two of the five Mustang hits on the day, one in each game, while
Emily Tatur,
Molly Bull, and
Makenna Waldow would each collect a hit.
The Warriors would score five first inning runs, a run in the second, and three in the third to create enough separation to win game one.
The Mustangs would score a pair of runs off a two-out error in the fourth, but WSU would score a run in the fifth to end the shortened game.
Morgyn Otte (0-4) would get the loss in game one, going two innings, giving up six runs (all earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out two.
WSU would pick up where they left off in game two, scoring 11 runs in four innings to secure the sweep.
Karlie Miller (3-8) would go four innings, giving up 11 runs (four earned) on 14 hits and two walks while striking out two.
The Mustangs will be in Fayette, Iowa for a doubleheader with Upper Iowa starting at noon on Monday, Apr. 4.
